RCAF Cartoons

Here's examples of cartoons from the glory days of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Click on a page to read it.

This cartoon below appears to have been a regular serial in the old RCAF magazine The Roundel.

This cartoon, Terry & The Pirates, appeared in the RCAF magazine The Roundel. The article illustrates the assistance given to the creator & his strip is certainly about the Canuck era RCAF.

Dan Cooper was a French-language cartoon character popular in Europe. He was a RCAF test pilot & his usual ride was a CF-100 but he also flew a "Blue Triangle", perhaps the Avro Arrow that the RCAF never got? He was created by a Belgian in 1954, and it all seems appropriate, as the Belgian Airforce was the only other customer for the CF-100. The comic book collections are available at Amazon & I can invision them being popular among Quebecers then & now.

The Avro CF-100 Canuck film Part 1

Part 1 of this 1956 film created by the Avro Canada film department. A very good overview of the CF-100 from design through production, armament testing, and into squadron service. I have this film on videotape but someone else has had this posted at YouTube for some time.

The Avro CF-100 Canuck film Part 2

Part 2 of this 1956 Avro Canada factory film on the CF-100 "Lead Sled".

The Avro CF-100 Canuck film Part 3

Part 3 of this 1956 Avro Canada factory film on the CF-100.
Good sequence here of the planes in squadron service & a simulated scramble and interception.

CF-100 at North Bay, late 1970's

This segment shows a CF-100 Canadian jet fighter in flight, from the late 1970's at CFB North Bay. It is from a TV series of the period called "In Search Of". Narrated by Star Trek's "Mr Spock" - Leonard Nimoy. The episode dealt with disappearances of ships & aircraft accounted for in a book titled The Great Lakes Triangle. Great to see the last Canucks fly, as I was there in North Bay around the time this was filmed.
